Son enters the kitchen this morning, puppy-dog eyes as wide as saucers.
Looking longingly up at me, I instantly knew he wanted something…
“Can I have a school meal today?” An innocent question you may think, but my heart sinks.
School meals are things that my daughter cannot have. Or can have, but is given a thoroughly inferior meal (jacket potato vs fish and chips?? Big slice of cake vs fruit…you get my drift).
And what is Friday? Fish and chip day, just to make things worse.
So what do I do? I am being closely examined by both children. One with a pleading, longing look in his eyes…the other with a powerful angry glare.
I decide to say yes. Daughter throws herself on the floor in a heap of despair whilst shouting it isn’t fair.
Son dances around the room in his crazy manner with the look of a child who has won a house full of sweets.
This is just an ordinary day in the Free From Fairy’s house…
Mum feels she has done the wrong thing…again.
