Today was one of those days when a meal out was necessary…younger brother was at a party over lunchtime and it was too cold to take a picnic for ‘Big Fuss Pot’ to eat while he was there. We therefore decided to ‘risk’ eating at Carluccios having heard lots of good things on Twitter from fellow coeliacs.
I drew the short straw and got to go to the birthday party (in case you are reading this Katy…I actually thought it was great!), while my husband got to have a civilised meal with his daughter! When I asked her about it afterwards this was the conversation we had:
Big Fuss Pot – “I had pasta and pesto…it was yummy. The pasta was a bit chewy.”
Me – “is chewy a good thing?”
BFP – “yes”
Me – “better than at home?”
BFP – “oh YES”
Me – note to self, cook the pasta for less time in the future!
BFP “I had chocolate ice cream for pudding!
Me – “oh yum, was it good”
Me “so what would you score the pasta and pesto”
BFP “ten out of ten…and ten out of ten for the ice cream too”
So there you have it. It is official. The gluten-free pasta and pesto at Carluccios scores a whopping ten out of ten and so does the ice cream!! She was obviously in a very good mood today!

Just to note after a few days, my lo did suffer a reaction to eating out again so if you are a super-sensitive coeliac then probably best to avoid…as I am sure you already know!
