The last few weeks have been very busy. Two birthdays 15 days apart with a school summer fete to organise in the middle! Anyway, after this weekend I will let out a sigh of relief as we head off on our camping holiday and get away from all the baking! Having to do dairy-free, gluten-free birthday tea’s means making things from scatch and it seems to take quite a lot of time!!
I thought I would quickly post pictures of the two birthday cakes from this year (one to be revealed tomorrow!), along with the macaroons I made for big fuss pot’s birthday tea tomorrow. She also has gingerbread men, my new favourite biscuit the jammie dodger, and party rings, made with the same recipe as the jammie dodger but with water icing on top! There will be a prize for the ‘best decorated’ gingerbread man!!
There will of course be savoury items too! Chicken nuggets, Black Farmer sausages on sticks, Warburtons gluten-free (but annoyingly not dairy-free) wraps with tuna mayo (we won’t be going entirely dairy-free tomorrow…her tummy will suffer but that is what she has chosen), Genius bread sandwiches with various fillings, vege sticks, houmous, Tesco own ring crisps and pringle-type crisps. There will also be the token bits of fruit too…strawberries and grapes…but lets face it…who is going to eat those?!
Anyway, enough of my rabbiting on. All you really want to see (well for the four of you who read this blog) are the pictures of the cakes! I will add a photo of the rainbow cake once it is cut because inside it is full of jellybeans! Looking forward to seeing big fuss pot’s face!!! Hopefully she won’t be being fussy tomorrow!
