I have had an incredibly busy morning making 60 bakes for a function tonight, whilst also making two of my future recipes for Nature’s Path in advance of a photo shoot tomorrow!
Time to sit down and quickly share something a bit different…
Of course, anyone who has visited my site more than once will know that I love food. That is pretty obvious isn’t it? It is everywhere…in fact it is all I talk about. Anyone would think I was obsessed!
However, there is something else in life that I love (apart from the obvious things of family and the great outdoors), and that is music.
Music has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember.
There are tunes that I hear that transport me back to being as young as 5.
It moves me, challenges me, inspires me, has styled me (in my youth…I don’t do style now!), chose the university that I studied at (Sheffield because it was somewhere that loads of bands played) and evokes strong feelings.
I am happy to say that Mr M and I share this passion in music. Well, he is probably more passionate and obsessed than me! Indeed, he has a blog dedicated to it, No Crowd Surfing and does a radio show for Phonic FM of which I am immensely proud.
I always cook with music on. Usually BBC Radio 6 Music because by the time I think of it my hands are already covered in flour or some other food! And it makes me feel like I am not alone in my kitchen.
It was therefore a huge honour last night to witness the amazing John Bramwell, the lead singer and songwriter for I am Kloot, play in a pub in Exeter to a crowd of 150 people.
Not only that, but I was right at the front of the crowd with Mr M and we stood there, transfixed to this incredibly talented man, whilst he knocked out tune after tune, chord after chord of absolute perfection.
There is no way that I can fully describe the evening beyond that. I have been to hundreds of gigs in my life…but this one was something else. An intense experience (both for John and the crowd!) and one that will stay with me for a long long time.
I hardly slept last night as my brain processed the incredible complexity of John’s voice, songs and humour.
So there you go! I do have other interests beyond food.
Food and music.
And they bind our family together. What is your love in life? What does your family enjoy together? I’d love to know!
