This week has been tougher than I had expected it to be. Whether that is because I have been tired or just plain bored at being couped up in the house with poorly kids in relay for 11 days, I don’t know.
All I do know is that I have wanted sugar more than at any other point on the programme, and have been struggling with snacking too.
Sarah Wilson’s suggestions for such times came through at just the right time in the programme. We were sent a whole article about distracting yourself at times when you crave food. The suggestions ranged from making a cup of tea, getting fresh air or letting 20 minutes pass while busying yourself with other things. I’ve been quite resistant to these suggestions thinking them to be quite ridiculous but that says more about me than anything else! I am trying hard to give them a go. But really? Make a cup of tea? I don’t even like tea!
Anyway, I’m pleased to say that I haven’t given in to the cravings, but I did try a few mouthfuls of my pain aux raisins minus the raisins. It was sweetened with stevia, so I didn’t feel too bad about it and who could resist this..?
Once again there have been a number of recipes in the plan that haven’t had a dairy-free or paleo option that was promised at the start of the programme.
That is fine for me because I can adapt recipes or create something healthy of my own. For those who are entirely reliant on the recipes I don’t think this is acceptable. I have fed this information back to the team who have taken my feedback on board and will hopefully correct this error.
Next week in the programme is all about allowing a little bit of sweetness back in…
I’m not sure how I feel about that because I know myself too well; as soon as I give myself a little bit of something that I’ve been restricting, I want more of it.
Is that just me or does that happen to you too? For me sugar is all or nothing so I am quite scared about allowing myself a little bit next week. I think I may just continue to stay away for as long as I can…
What would you do?

I was gifted the programme in order to review it. All opinions are honest and my own.

I’m not sure about this either and I know what you mean about once you start eating sweet things again. I’m sure this is aimed at getting a healthy balance and positive attitude though, so hopefully it will work in a positive way for you.

Hi Nicola, I am sure you are right! The fact that the sweetness is in the form of berries and that they form an omlette for breakfast is probably a good thing…so as not to see such things as a ‘treat’. I’ll see how I feel next week! Glad you are doing so well…
